Wedding Day in the Idaho Sawtooth Mountains
My husband and I have only been married a year and a half, but we've been together for 13 years now. We met in karate class, but we fell in love over country music, while doing country dancing. In my opinion, no one writes love songs as well as country artists.
Both of us had been burned in past relationships, so we were cautious going in. I was ready sooner than he was, however, so when this song by Gary Allan (an alt country singer that is one of my faves) came out, I felt it expressed where we were perfectly:
The One
No rush though I need your touch
I won't rush your heart
Until you feel on solid ground
Until your strength is found, boy
I'll fill those canyons in your soul
Like a river lead you home
And I'll walk a step behind
In the shadows so you shine
Just ask, it will be done
And I will prove my love
Until you're sure that I'm "the one"
Somebody else was here before
She treated you unkind
And broken wings need time to heal
Before a heart can fly, boy
Trust in me and you'll find a heart so true
All I want to do is give the best of me to you
And stand beside you
Just ask it will be done
And I will prove my love
Until you're sure that I'm "the one"
Here's a YouTube video of the song (beautiful):
Another song I love that expresses how I feel about the love we found the "second time around" with each other is "Keeper of the Stars" by Tracy Byrd.
Keeper of the Stars
It was no accident me finding you
Someone had a hand in it
Long before we ever knew
Now I just can't believe you're in my life
Heaven's smilin' down on me
As I look at you tonight
I tip my hat to the keeper of the stars
He sure knew what he was doin'
When he joined these two hearts
I hold everything
When I hold you in my arms
I've got all I'll ever need
Thanks to the keeper of the stars
Soft moonlight on your face oh how you shine
It takes my breath away
Just to look into your eyes
I know I don't deserve a treasure like you
There really are no words
To show my gratitude
So I tip my hat to the keeper of the stars
He sure knew what he was doin'
When he joined these two hearts
I hold everything
When I hold you in my arms
I've got all I'll ever need
Thanks to the keeper of the stars
It was no accident me finding you
Someone had a hand in it
Long before we ever knew

And then, there's "Remember When" by Alan Jackson, a wonderful song about the enduring nature of romantic love through all the ups and downs of life.
Sorry I couldn't pick just one! I could probably come up with about 10 more that I love too!
